FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, IL (KTVI) – Law enforcement personnel from three departments are taking over a Dunkin’ Donuts in Fairview Heights Friday morning.  But there was no crime or standoff.  It is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Illinois.

This is the 11th year in a row officers have taken over the donut chain.  About 150 shops will be seized statewide, while Fairview Heights officers search for at least $1,700 in donations.

At this fundraiser, the donors will get something in return.  They get a free donut coupon for any donation.  But for $10, donors get a free travel mug – while supplies last – and a coupon for free medium coffee.

Officers from Fairview Heights Police, O’Fallon Police and O’Fallon Department of Corrections will be on top of the Dunkin Donuts at 6008 North Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, IL  62208.  But 150 locations all over the state will be taken over by police officers.
