(KTVI) – What better way to honor a hero who stopped eating his burger to rescue a woman than by offering him free burgers for life? That’s right!

According to Cleveland.com eleven restaurants in the Ohio area and one in Pennsylvania have chosen to honor, Charles Ramsey, the man who saved four kidnapped victims held captive for ten years  in Cleveland with free burgers for life

The burger tribute is inspired by Ramsey’s 911 call that detailed how he had previously left a McDonald’s near his home when he witness Amanda Berry screaming for help. He continued to describe how he had to stop eating his burger in order to rescue the woman and her daughter.

Chef and co-owner of Hodges restaurant where Ramsey worked as a dishwasher decided to honor the hero by offering an 8 ounce Certified Angus Beef burger, with a special sauce in his namesake.

The popularity of the humbled hero and his burger led to the involvement of other Northeast Ohio restaurants. They are offering Charles Ramsey a free burger anytime he wants to stop by and dig in.
