Update:  Funeral arrangements have been made for Lonnie Avent.  Visitation will be held at Kutis Funeral Home on Gravois Road, on Friday, May 17th from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  The funeral will on Saturday, May 18th at Kutis, at 11:00 am.

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Police say a boy was killed when he jumped off a dumpster onto a moving car in an alley in north St. Louis Thursday.

Police say a car was driving down the alley in the 4900 block of Alcott around 7:30pm Thursday. The driver told police Lonnie Avent, 9, jumped off the lid of the dumpster and in front of his car. The car struck the Avent.

Avent was taken to an area hospital in critical, but stable condition. He later died at the hospital.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
