ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Imagine being able to go to college on someone else's dime. That's the reality for a McClure high school senior. Thanks to the generosity of the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation eight students at McCluer High are able to attend college with an unlimited amount of money to spend on their tuition.
That's eight students in ten years time. I got to spend the afternoon with the latest recipient and her teachers who've helped open some doors for these North County high schoolers.
Kristen McPike will graduate in the next week and she's got her future planned thanks to this prestigious full-ride through PHD scholarships. Kristen is set to attend Loyola University in CHicago this Fall. She started work last summer in preparation for submitting for the scholarship.
She's a pretty impressive young woman.
