ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – The Variety Children’s Chapter of St. Louis has won the highest award from the variety international, the Gold Heart.  Variety International held it’s 86th annual international world conference in Las Vegas recently, that encompassed 41 chapters, from 11 countries.

The Golden Heart award is awarded to a chapter that demonstrates the following attributes: programs, innovation, financial stability and growth.

Since its inception in 1928, variety has raised $1.8 billion dollars for 45 million children with disabilities worldwide.

The St. Louis chapter has raised over $92 million dollars over the past 81 years.  In 2011, the chapter was able to help over 14,000 kids in the St. Louis region.
