SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MO. (KTVI) – St. Louis County Police are investigating after two men tried to rob an elderly couple at their home. The incident happened at about 8:30 Sunday night in the 13,000 block of Wynston Trace Court near Suson Park in unincorporated St. Louis County.

Investigators say the couple saw the men walking down the street but didn't think anything of it. When they pulled into their driveway to park their car in the garage, one of the men pulled a gun on the homeowner. The homeowner was slightly injured during the struggle. Neighbors say he was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

Melissa Daus lives across the street from the victims. "This happened when they came home from dinner and all they did was pull into their garage and these people approaches them. It can happen to anyone of us. It could have been anyone of us," said Daus.

The gunmen left without taking anything of value. Police have not released a description of them, but have stepped up patrols in the neighborhood.

Police say this is the second occurrence of an attempted robbery in the area, since April.  The incident happened on April 20th in the 5400 block of Milburn.

Some residents say they’re adding extra security around their homes and are being more vigilant. "We’re going to have to keep our eyes open and make sure everyone knows this is a concern," said Judy Williamson.
