GRANITE CITY, IL (KPLR) – If you use the Chain of Rocks Canal Bridge near Granite City, Illinois, get ready for lane closures starting Monday morning.

Those closures are slated to continue for nearly two weeks.

IDOT says the closures are needed so crews can perform needed bridge inspections.

We’re told there will be daily lane closures running through May 17.

IDOT says the closures will begin Monday morning and will end either in the afternoon or evening. There will be no overnight or weekend closures.

Monday and Tuesday, the westbound right lane will be closed from 9:00am until 7:00pm.

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the westbound left lane is slated to close during similar times.

Next week, the lane closures will shift to the eastbound lanes.

IDOT is also scheduled to close the right eastbound lane on I-55/70 from the I-55/70/64 split to Exchange Avenue in East St. Louis.

That is slated to take place from 7:00pm until 5:00am starting Monday night and running through early Friday morning.

This closure could include intermittent 15-minute road closures.

All of these closures are weather permitting.

IDOT says as of Monday morning, all of the closures are still a go.
