ST. LOUIS, MO. (KTVI) – The suspect in an officer involved shooting in downtown St. Louis died Wednesday night.  The shooting occurred around 9:30 pm in downtown St. Louis at 8th and Carr, just north of the Edward Jones Dome.

The incident began when officers on patrol in the “Hot Spot” of Columbus Square were spotted by another car that sped off.  The police did not pursue the car.  A little while later the car was spotted again by police officers and again the car sped off crashing on 9th and Carr.

The driver of the crash car stayed with the vehicle and was arrested.  A passenger in the car took off running and police officers chased the suspect.

At some point during the chase, the 25-year-old suspect pulled out a .45 caliber handgun and police officers shot the suspect.
