(KTVI) – The IRS is warning Missouri donors about charity scams following recent tragedies in Boston and Texas.
Residents are urged to only donate to qualified charities and to be wary of charities with similar names.
Fraudulent schemes include solicitations by phone, social media, email or in person.
The IRS says you also should never send cash or give out your financial information, such as bank account or credit card numbers, and report any suspected fraud.
