CedrictheEntertainer 040(KTVI) – “Yes.”  That was Cedric the Entertainer’s final answer when he agreed to become the new host of the game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”

The St. Louis Native and “Soul Man” star will be replacing long-time host Meredith Vieria this fall, Disney-ABC announced Wednesday morning.   Vieria hosted the game show when it began its weekday edition in 2002.

Best known for his performance in the “Original Kings of Comedy,” Cedric is the second comedian from the group to become a game show host.  Steve Harvey is currently the host of “Family Feud.”

“Millionaire” will begin its 12th season this fall but ironically,  people in Cedric’s hometown will not be able to watch the show because it currently does not air in St. Louis.
