TOWN AND COUNTRY, MO (KTVI) - A Town & Country woman is dead and her husband is behind bars charged with murder.

The Gunters lived in the 1500 block of Mason Hill Court. Suzanne died on Monday, March 18.

Town and Country police say neighbors were called to the house by the husband saying his wife had fallen down the stairs and was injured.

Police were called to the home around 3:00pm and found her severely injured.  She was taken to an area hospital, where she later died.

An autopsy indicated Gunter's injuries were not consistent with the report given to police. The case was turned over to homicide detectives Tuesday. She suffered a head trauma. Authorities allege Suzanne was hit by her husband.

Suzanne, also known as Suzy, was well-known and liked by her friends and colleagues.

Funeral services are set for Friday.

William Lynn Gunter is being held in the St. Louis County Jail without bond.
