ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- Thursday night we will find out if St. Louisan Curtis Finch Jr. is among the top ten on American Idol. Curtis, his friends call him C.J., is a member of Shalom Church City of Peace in Florissant.
Some of the church members are C.J.`s strongest supporters. They missed the first hour or so of American Idol for bible study. God comes first for them but C.J. is on their minds.
Latasha Fox is a member of the choir like C.J. "I`m really praying for CJ and I know he is a very gifted talented musician and singer I really hope he can go as far as he can go and win," she said.
The pastor said the young man`s success on national t.v. is not only good for C.J. and the congregation, but it`s also good for the St. Louis area. Rev. Freddy Clark said, "C.J. comes from a long line of great vocalists who have had national attention but he`s the latest St. Louisan and we`re proud of him."
Proud, it is a word people in the church use often when talking about C.J. Harry Cecil is a choir member and he`s also a teacher. He added, "As soon as I found out he was on American Idol, I`m all for it. I`m getting my kids in my school to vote all of that."
Latasha Fox summed it all up, "If anyone has the talent he (C.J.) does."
