Missouri Powerball Winners Give Money Back To Home Town

CAMDEN POINT, MO – Mark and Cindy Hill are giving away their half of the biggest Powerball lotto jackpot in US history. They won $587 million in November and got $136.5 million in a lump-sum payment after taxes.

Reuter’s News reports that the Hills are giving the money to fund civic projects in Camden Point, Missouri.  They live in nearby Dearborn, Missouri. The family is paying for a fire station and ball field. They also are donaing more money to build a sewage system for the town.

Camden Point has fewer than 500 residents and is wedged into hills in a rural area about 30 miles north of Kansas City. Its downtown has a series of mostly empty brick buildings.
