One Person Killed In I-55 Wrong Way Crash

SOUTH ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)--One person is dead after a Saturday morning crash on northbound Interstate 55 near Sydney St. According to St. Louis Police, a driver in a white Lincoln was driving the wrong way, southbound in the northbound lanes, around 6:00am. That car collided with another, described at a green Subaru.

The Lincoln caught fire due to the crash. The driver, identified as 30 year old Damian Harris of St. Louis, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru, a 36 year old male, was transported to an area hospital in serious but stable condition. He suffered leg injuries in the crash.

I-55 northbound was shutdown for a time while police cleaned up the wreck. Their investigation continues.
