(CNN) – Good Samaritans in New York risk their own lives to save a man who fell onto subway tracks.

The train was barreling into Columbus Circle Subway Station early Sunday morning when the accident happened.

Three men jumped down to rescue the unconscious victim and realized he was too big to lift.

With only seconds to spare, they finally hoisted him off the tracks with the help of people on the platform above.

One of the Good Samaritans, Dennis Codrington, says the close call made him think about his own life.

“I’m starting to realize you know what that could have been me and I need to make the best effort to fulfill those things I want to do. “

Codrington believes the victim may have been drunk and simply passed out, falling onto the tracks in the process.
