Pilot Passes Out; Plane Lands Safely

PORTLAND, OR – A jet headed to Seattle made an emergency landing in Portland, Oregon after the pilot passed out.  According to the Weather Channel the co-pilot landed Flight 473 safely.

The pilot who lost consciousness was met by medical crews on the runway and taken to the hospital.  There is no update on the pilot’s condition from airline officials.  He has been a pilot for the airline for the past 28 years and passed his six month medical evaluation. The co-pilot is an 11-year Alaska Air veteran.

Passengers were flown to Seattle on board the same plane after the unplanned stop in Portland.
