UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KPLR) - A police officer fires a shot at a suspect after a crazy chase started in Maryland heights and ended in University City.  One suspect is now in custody.

Authorities tell us it started after a Maryland Heights police officer pulled over Jorge Wallace in a 2012 Toyota Camry that crossed the center line into oncoming traffic at Bennington Place and Summerhouse.

Investigators said Wallace allegedly pulled off, made a u-turn and drove towards the officer who jumped into his car.

Investigators say as the officer was approaching the car, the suspect drove off.
The officer got back into his cruiser and that`s when police say the suspect made a u-turn, rammed the officer`s car with the officer in it then sped off.

The Toyota hit the police car and suddenly a chase was on. The pursuit ended in University City at John`s Automotive at the 6900 block of Olive, with Wallace crashing into two cars and more.  He took off on foot and pointed a gun at the officer who fired one shot.

Wallace was found hiding nearby and taken into custody without injury.

Insurance claims and repairs are underway and the officer who suffered a head injury is expected to be OK.

St. Louis County prosecutors charged Jorge Wallace with 2 counts of felony assault on a police officer.
