CAHOKIA, IL (KTVI)-There were new developments in the Ebony Jackson murder case Saturday on the same day she was laid to rest.  The reward fund for information leading to an arrest in her case jumped to $14,000. Jackson, 30, was found shot to death in the trunk of her car in St. Louis, days after her baby son was found abandoned.

On Saturday, friends and family said a final goodbye to Ebony at a service held at the Power of Change Christian Church in Cahokia, IL.

“There is no greater love than that of a mother or father for their children.  There is no greater pain than losing a child,” said Ebony Jackson’s mother, Stella Jackson.

Jackson read a letter she wrote to her daughter before a crowd of about 200 at Ebony`s funeral.  Born in Germany to military parents, a brain tumor and more than a dozen surgeries forced her to cut short her dream of serving in the Armed Forces. But she never gave up.

“She always said, ‘momma I’ve got to make my own way’.  All the struggles she had, she never let it get her down. “

They tried to focus on celebrating Ebony Jackson’s life at the service. They focused on how she lived, instead of how she died.  But given how she died and that this case is still open, it`s a lot easier said than done.

Jackson was found shot to death in the trunk of her car in north St. Louis; She was visiting from Oklahoma. Her three month old son, Donovan, was found unhurt, but abandoned in a Breckenridge Hills apartment building four days earlier; still in his car seat.  No motive, no suspects.

Ebony’s cousin, Talisha Brooks, said, “That is what I want you all to do for me, for Ebony, her baby.  We’re here today.  Tomorrow’s not promised.  The people you love… tell them today.  Show them today.  Don`t hesitate.”

Ebony’s mother finished her letter, “I wish I could retrace your day, your evening, your night, because I would give every ounce of my being, my air, to let you breathe.  Ebony my daughter, I will always love you, from the bottom of heart, to the depths of my soul;  yesterday, today, and eternally.  Love, Mom.”

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS (5677). A $14,000 reward is being offered for all tips leading to an arrest and conviction of those responsible. You do not have to leave your name.
