DELLWOOD, MO (KTVI)-A murder suspect is in custody this morning after an overnight standoff in Dellwood.
Authorities tell me the standoff lasted nearly three hours before it ended peacefully---the 28 year old suspect was found hiding in the trunk of a car.
It all started about midnight at a home on Dowd Drive in Dellwood.
Investigators tell us an officer spotted the suspect and when he went to confront the man, the suspect ran inside the home and wouldn`t come out.
Family members of the suspect apparently lived in the house.
The swat team was called in.
Eventually, authorities learned the suspect was in the trunk of a car in the home`s garage.
We`re told the man surrendered without a fight---getting out of the trunk and then being taken into custody around 2:45am this morning.
Investigators tell us the man is a suspect in a murder that happened in Kinloch yesterday.
The body of a 38 year old man was found on Gregory Drive around 5pm yesterday afternoon.
Police say he had been shot.
Authorities say that the victim and the suspect now in custody knew each other.
Investigators tell us the two were apparently working together in a vacant lot when some sort of conflict developed leading to the shooting.
One more point on the standoff---county police say there was a two year old boy in the home on Dowd drive when all of this went down.
SWAT team members went in and got the toddler out of the home around 1:30am this morning.
Nobody was hurt in the entire incident.
