Senator Blunt Talks About Mississippi River Levels

(KPLR) - Missouri senator Roy Blunt says he's happy with the progress being made removing rock from the Mississippi river near Thebes, Illinois.  The Army Corps of Engineers says its completed the first phase of the project ahead of schedule.

That phase addressed the areas that had the most immediate impact on barges trying to move up and down the Mississippi river.

The removal of the rock is critical to maintaining a channel for barges to navigate the river.
