MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KPLR) - Thousands of dollars worth of holiday lights that St. Louis Green intended to recycle were stolen from a Maryland Heights warehouse.

"We believe someone took them because they contain cooper," St. Louis Green Executive Director Craig Jung said.

St. Louis Green collects the lights during and after the holidays. They receive a rebate for recycling the lights. Some of the rebate is donated to Operation Food Search

"We do this to help, so when something like this happens it is very upsetting," Jung said.

The company is still accepting holiday lights through Sunday. They can be dropped off at Batteries Plus locations in the area.
