MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KPLR) - Christmas came early this morning for some very special kids in Maryland Heights. Escorted by Maryland Heights police, Santa Claus visited kids at Ranken Jordan Children's Hospital.

Santa handed out presents to close to 50 children who are receiving treatment from the hospital. The Maryland Heights Police Officers Association raises money to buy the gifts for the annual event.

"There`s so many kids that, you know, are hospitalized and they could be sad because they can`t be home. And it's just really great that that we can just let kids live here and they can feel all the things that you would normally feel about getting ready for Christmas and that Santa came here," said Ranken Jordan President and CEO Lauri Tanner.

Each child got two gifts today and they will get more on Christmas day.

This is the eighth year for the program.
