Sam Dotson Selected As Next St. Louis Police Chief

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Sam Dotson has been unanimously selected as the city of St. Louis' next police chief.  The formal announcement was made at a press conference on Friday.

Current Metropolitan Police Department Chief Dan Isom is retiring on January 1, 2013. 

Thirteen current members of the police department applied for the job. The candidates were examined by the police board and took a written essay test designed by the UMSL Criminology department

Three unprecedented meetings were also held to hear what citizens were looking for in the next city police chief.
