HAZELWOOD, MO (KTVI)-A nine month old boy is dead after an incident at a Hazelwood hotel. Hazelwood Police responded to a report of an unresponsive child at the Extended Stay of America Hotel on N. Lindbergh Monday afternoon.  Emergency responders found the infant’s mother administering CPR.  The boy, identified as Roman Bell, was taken to Depaul Hospital but he could not be resuscitated.  He was pronounced dead at about 3:05 PM.

An investigation determined that the mother, Brooke Maynard, 24, was giving the child a bath and left the room as he lay in the tub with the water running.  Distracted, she stayed gone for a few minutes.  After realizing what she had done, the mother told police she went back and found the child not breathing in the tub full of water.  She removed her son and began giving him CPR as she called 911.
