TROY, IL. (KTVI) – The Better Business Bureau has a warning for consumers on giving money to charitable organizations collecting money for fallen Illinois State Troop Deatherage.  Officer Deatherage was killed tragically this week, when he was struck by a semi, during a routine stop near Litchfield, Illinois.

The BBB is concern that people may take advantage of the officer’s death and try to play on the public sympathy and solicit money, saying the funds will go the officers family or other police organizations.

They advise you check the organization thoroughly and if you have concern to call your local police or Better Business Bureau.
