(KPLR) – It turns out every vote does count and the candidate for a city council seat in one Kentucky town is learning the hard way.  Robert McDonald tied wtih Olivia Ballou for a seat on the Walton City Council.

Both candidates got 669 votes, but McDonald could have gotten one more vote if his wife would have voted.

She works nights at a hospital and didn't make it to the polls.

The county clerk says the winner will be chosen by the flip of a coin.

Both candidates have until Tuesday to ask for a recount.
