Hostess Bakery Workers To Go On Strike

ST. LOUIS, MO. (KPLR) – In a statement released by Hostess Brand, Inc., the makers of Wonder Bread, Hostess Cupcakes, fruit pies and other baked goods, is imploring its union workers not to strike against the company.  

The Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union called the strike after worker authorized the strike over wages and benefits.

Hostess employs 18,300 workers and says the strike may push the already ailing company that’s in bankruptcy, to liquidate all of its assets to the highest bidders.

Company officials say they’re trying to stave off liquidation and that they know concession have been tough on all of the workers for Hostess.

Reports say the union will set up picket lines at the Hostess plant on Broadway and Taylor in North St. Louis as early as Saturday morning.
