ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR)-- St. Louis County voters must decide Tuesday if the special school district needs extra funds.

The county-wide system serves children with special needs and operates two vocational- technical high schools.

Proposition S adds 19 cents to the current one dollar property tax rate.

The extra funds would supplement budget shortfalls caused by lower property values, provide staff for a growing population of autistic children and cover the cost of renovation and new technology.

Supporters say the district has already cut staff by five percent and other costs by 19 percent.
