ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Every city is different so it's no surprise some allow chickens and some don't.

I spent time in Breckenridge Hills recently for a passionate debate over whether a city ordinance should be changed to allow chickens.

Families use the eggs to defray the cost of food opponents worry about any diseases the chickens might spread.

Chicken lovers lost the battle here.  Apparently one council member feared a vote for the chickens could cost him re-election.

It was great to see so much passion over the issue.  It makes me wish more residents attended their city council meetings.  So there could be that much passion on other issues as well.

I'm JB and that's the way it oughta be.
