ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - The latest information about teenagers and driving is not good.  Vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for teens.

It seems their driving skills are getting worse.

There are a couple of possible reasons.

One, driver's education programs have been cut due to financial woes but a more likely area of blame are the number of distractions teens now face.

It all starts with the phone.  Texting and talking are a whole new set of problems.

So the next time you talk to a teen about driving .. Don't forget to talk about locking up the phone until they reach their destination.  And set the example yourself.

I'm JB and that's the way it oughta be.
