Positive Aging – Testosterone & Compunding Pharmacies

(KPLR) – It's time for positive aging with Dr. Kathy Maupin. We talked about testosterone and the importance of this hormone for men and women. We also discussed compounding pharmacies.

There was a universal belief that testosterone replacement therapy in men increased the risk of prostate cancer. A Havard-based doctor has proven this theory to be wrong and shows actually there is an increased risk of prostate cancer in aging men with low testosterone.

For women, we know very little about the importance of testosterone, but it seems to be an integral part of positive aging. At this time, there is no FDA approval  of testosterone for women.
