Bernthal – Safer To Keep Pace Than Obey The Limit

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - I don't know why but speed limits seem to be a hot topic right now.  I reported on the effort in Chesterfield to raise the speed limit on Clarkson and Olive and the lowering of the speed limit on Forest Park Parkway.

I think one of my favorite speed limit signs is one near the KPLR studios.  The sign says 17 miles per hour.  Now that will get your attention.

If you drive St. Louis streets long enough you know which speed limits are strictly enforced.  Experienced drivers don't speed on Lindbergh through Frontenac or on Highway 40 through Ladue.  We know better.

I just wish speeding tickets only went to drivers out of whack with the pace of know the guy doing 80 on the highway while everyone else is doing 60 .....  Because sometimes it's safer to keep pace with traffic than it is to obey the speed limit.
