BRENTWOOD, MO (KPLR) - iPhone frenzy on Friday, as the iPhone 5 hit store shelves at 8am local time, around the globe and right here in St. Louis.
Dozens of Apple fans sat outside the Brentwood AT&T for hours, just to be the first to get their hands on the new phone.
Technology enthusiast Kendall Lamm was first in line to score the brand new iPhone 5. He got to the store at 10 the night before, a full two hours before anyone else arrived.
Lamm explains, 'Some people play soccer in the World Cup, you know, I buy iPhone 5 and I`m the first one. You gotta live up to that experience.'
However, Lamm says the overnight wait wasn`t without challenges: 'Tired, cold, have to be at work in an hour and a half, can`t call in sick cuz I`ve been interviewed by so many news people; someone`s gonna know.'
After finally getting their hands on the new phones, many customers feel the long wait was worth it.
Customer Kim Wendt, who waited since 6am for the new phone, explains, 'It`s thinner, I like the bigger screen, it`s faster'
Despite everything the new iPhone does, sometimes it`s the simple ways we use our phones that matter most. Lamm says, 'I gotta go home and sync it with my contacts so I can figure out who`s texting me, but yeah, I think I`m gonna really like it.'
Not all new customers are thrilled with the newest iPhone. The new Maps app has had some glitches, and some are upset that the new iPhone cord means not all speakers and docks can be adapted.
