ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Sonny was wandering on a North St. Louis street, whimpering from excruciating pain. He had severe burns on his face and left side of his body and was in  critical shape.  He was taken to the Missouri Humane Society to be treated.  The outcome did not look good.

Their veterinary staff immediately began treating Sonny's injuries. After months of special care this hardy little puppy has a made a remarkable recovery.

Now it is time for the Humane Society to say goodbye to sonny and send him off to his forever home. He was adopted by St. Louis couple Susan and Bill Bonan who heard his story and knew he was meant to join their family.

"We immediately had an interest in finding out about sonny and when he was released from the doctor we wanted to bring him home and rescue him." said Sonny's new owner Susan Bonan.

Sonny will be joining the Bonan's 3 other dogs who are also rescues. His abusers have never been caught and the Humane Socity is offering a 2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
