ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - I've had people email me before asking what they can do if their neighbor's dog leaves unwanted presents in their yard.

Area parks provide these bags so you don't have to leave the mess behind.

I've always told folks there's not much you can do.

Well apparently I've been wrong.  There is something you can do.

Some neighborhoods are turning to a company that takes the samples left behind and uses DNA technology to track down the dog.

In some cases the dog owner then faces a hefty fine.

It seems a little extreme to me but you know what, if it keeps a neighborhood clean why not.

I'll just keep using the bags.

I'm JB and that's the way it oughta be.
