Man Survives Being Shot in Head at Burger King

SUNSET HILLS, MO (KPLR) - There was a frightening attack in Sunset Hills leaves one man shot in the head and has police searching for a suspect.  Investigators say it all happened as the victim was going into a fast food restaurant.

Sunset Hills police say it all happened about 8:30 p.m. Monday night outside the Burger King at Lindbergh Boulevard.  Police say a 45-year-old man had just gotten out of his car in the Burger King Parking lot and was heading for the front door.

At that point, police he was approached from behind by a man in his 20s who was wearing dark clothing. The suspect asked the man for the time.  When the victim turned around, investigators say the suspect pointed a long barrel revolver at him and mumbled something.

Police say the victim then grabbed the gun's barrel and a struggle started. Both people fell and the gun went off.  Investigators say the suspect got up and fired three to four shots at the victim, hitting him in the head, shin and right thigh.

Somehow, the victim was able to drive himself home where his wife then took him to the hospital.  We are told his injuries are non-life threatening.  The suspect got away. He's wanted for assault and armed criminal action.
