ST. LOUIS, MO. (KPLR) - St. Louis police are searching for a suspect wanted in an attempted rape in Forest Park.  The 27-year-old woman says she was jogging along a trail in the park around 8:45 p.m.  when she was attacked.

She suffered scratches on her face and back but manages to get away from her attacker.  She made it to the gas station on Hampton where she called for help.

Authorities are now looking for a black male with a thin build and shoulder-length braids. He is described as 5'10" to 5'11" and was wearing a white shirt.

Anyone with information should contact St. Louis police.

Joggers Bryan Thompson and Kerry Bost say they always hit the trails together. One of many habits police say can help cut your chances of becoming a victim.

Police also say you should wear bright colors, a whistle and not wear headphones because it can distract you if someone approaches.

They also say become familiar with your surroundings if you are attacked and if possible take note of what the attacker is wearing especially their shoes.
