CENTREVILLE, IL (KPLR) - As part of honoring law officers and first responders on this September 11th anniversary, crews are coming together to put a new roof on the home of a former Centreville, IL police lieutenant who was killed in the line duty back in 2009.

Work was well underway Tuesday morning at the home of Lieutenant Greg Jona's widow. The Roofing and Siding Contractors Alliance along with Backstoppers have teamed up for this project.

The president of the Contractor's Alliance says the group was looking to reach out to do charity work.  And this is the first project they chose to do.
