(KPLR) – This Saturday, "The Pulse of St. Louis," will take a closer look at the Metro East levees. FEMA announced requirements to improve the levees five years ago.
So far, that hasn't been done.
After Katrina hit New Orleans seven years ago, causing major flooding and claiming hundreds of lives, FEMA announced new requirements to upgrade metro-east levees.
One of our guests says, if the metro east levee system is not upgraded, it will be hard to attract new business to the area.
The corps of engineers insists the levee system is safe; but with so much at stake, what's the holdup?
