McKelvey Elementary Dismisses Due To Water Main Break

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KPLR) - A 20 inch water pipe busted early Monday morning sending thousands of gallons of water into the air, street and homes near McKelvey and Dorsett Roads.

McKelvey Elementary`s 500 students and other nearby businesses had to close early because they had no water.

Changing weather and shifting soil caused the 60 year old pipe to burst.

Several homes were flooded another 20 to 40 lost water service.

American Water says they have restoration and insurance crews on site to survey the damage.

 They`ve spent over $53 million replacing old pipes. 

McKelvey Elementary will be up and running Tuesday morning.
