ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - Missouri republicans running for the GOP nomination for governor are saying little about each other and much more about the incumbent democrat Jay Nixon. The two front runners in the race have no experience in elected office, but see that as an advantage.

Bill Randles is relying on a grass roots effort to capture the republican nomination.

Dave Spence bought several million dollars of TV commercial time with his own money and visited each Missouri county.   He touts his business credentials as the answer to the state's economic woes.

"I have lived and breathed it and the skill set I have as a good CEO and as a knowledgeable person who's been there." said republican candidate for governor Dave Spence.

"It's a 24 billion dollar business called Missouri Incorporated and if our governor was running a private enterprise he would have been fired two years ago." said republican candidate for governor Dave Spence.

Randles aruges his resume is deeper, begining with family roots in agriculture,  his time as a pastor and his work as an attorney and owner of a  large Kansas City law firm.

"Our average employment in Missouri was more than 1,500 Missouri citizens , more than twice  what mr. Spence employed in his own business.  So yes, I've been involved in the private sector , hiring and firing and managing very large budgets." said republican candidate for governor  Bill Randles.

Spence promises to turn Missouri's economy around.  "The crying need in all 114 counties is , more jobs, less regulation , fix our education funding program that's what it is."

Voters will make their decision on Tuesday.  The polls will be open from 6am to 7pm.
