Now let's talk about Chick-Fil-A. The fast food chain is owned by a devout christian family. So devout they accept diminished profits and close on sunday because they want to obey the sabbath and keep it holy.
They are against gay marriage because they believe the bible says marriage is between a man and a woman. They are also against divorce so they look down at most marriages in this country including mine.
Now, there is no indication that Chick-Fil-A has ever turned away anyone from either a chicken sandwich or a job because of their faith or sexual preference. It is just what the owners believe.
Still, what they believe infuriates the Muppets. Jim Henson Productions has ended the muppets affiliation with Chick-Fil-A advertising over the gay marriage issue.
I have no problem with that. It is their right.
Others have followed the Muppets' lead and called for a human boycott of Chick-Fil-A. Again, no problem with that. It is their right.
The mayors of Chicago and Boston are against Chick-Fil-A and don't want them in their cities. Now, that iI have a problem with.
Let's go back to the first amendment shall we. The government can't interfere with commerce because of someone's religious belief or because of what they say. If this is allowed where does it end? Can they close a business because of someone's political views? Can they keep a church from being built? You don't want to start down this road.
So don't eat at Chick-Fil-A or do. That is your choice. But remember, the owner didn't impose his morals on you he just expressed it. Save your anger for pandering politicians who feel free to impose their morals on businesses. For that is truly dangerous.
