Independence Day Events
(KPLR)-Happy Independence Day! July 4th is the day the America celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of the Independence in 1776, setting the course for the founding of a new nation. Below is a list of several of the celebrations being held across the St. Louis region.

135th Veiled Prophet Parade
Date: Wednesday, July 4, 2012 Venue: Downtown St. Louis Time: 10:00am
This annual parade, themed “Around the World”, begins at Washington Avenue and Fourth Street in downtown St. Louis, makes its way south on Fourth Street to Market Street, heads west on Market concluding at St. Louis Union Station http://www.vpparade.org/
32nd Annual Fair Saint Louis
Date: Wednesday, July 4, Friday- Saturday, July 6-7, 2012 Venue: Grounds of the Gateway Arch
This Independence Day Celebration kicks off early in the morning July 4th with a competitive four-mile and a one-mile family fun run. Following the runs, the 135th annual Veiled Prophet Parade. At noon, the first of two air shows, including top civilian performers and military aircraft. The other is at 3:30pm. Appearing on the Budweiser Main Stage under the Arch is Heart on Wednesday, July 4; Third Eye Blind on Friday, July 6; and Dierks Bentley on Saturday, July 7. All shows begin at 8:00 p.m. Each evening concludes with the star-spangled US Bank/Enterprise Rent-A-Car fireworks at 9:15pm. http://fairsaintlouis.org/
Honor their legacy: 2012 B-17 Tour
Date: Tuesday- Wednesday, July 3-4, 2012 Venue: St. Louis Downtown Airport
EAA is offering historic flight experiences in its beautifully restored B-17G Flying Fortress “Aluminum Overcast.” One of only 13 Fortress’s still flying, this aircraft is an icon of the Allied strategic bombing effort that helped turn the tide of battle in World War II. Walk-up –for non EAA members: $475

Come join in the fun at an old fashioned family evening in the park. The Great Godfrey Maze’s theme will be unveiled and there will be fireworks at 9:15. Free
Granite City Festival And Fireworks

Lantern Festival: Art by Day, Magic by Night Exhibit
