ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – St. Louis Bread Company’s “community cafe” is catching on.  The “pay what you can” concept got its start at the Clayton location, and now, the parent corporation, Panera Bread, has opened its first community cafe in Chicago.  The hope is that those who can, will pay a little more, to help those who can’t afford to pay full price.  Panera has four community cafes nationwide, and says the stores make a nice profit.
