DOWNTOWN, MO (KPLR) - This is a reminder that there will be major construction Downtown this weekend. The work will affect the double decker structure on Highway 40.
Work will begin Friday at 10:00 am and all Westbound lanes will close and won’t re-open until 3:00 am on Monday. One westbound lane will however, open Saturday morning between 6 and 10. The 9th street exit will be open for those traveling Downtown for the "Race for the Cure." On the Eastbound side, only one lane will be closed for the weekend.
MoDot spokesman stated, “I want all Missouri residents and Illinois folks going back and forth through the area to take some extra precautions. Read the signs and give yourself some extra time if you're going through the area”.
North County traffic will also be affected, with work on the I-70 bridge over the Earth City Expressway. Two Eastbound lanes will be closed beginning Friday night at 7 but should reopen by 5:00 am on Monday.
