ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – Kurt LaBelle interviews new SLU Womens Basketball Coach, Lisa Stone on this Sunday’s Sports Extra.

Lisa stated that the transition to St. Louis has been a crazy month full of scheduling, finding staff, finding a place to live, meeting the community, and talking to players.  She is very excited to be in St. Louis.

Stone commented on the Chaifetz Arena, and claims it’s a state-of-the-art facility full of Billiken spirit.  Stone said she loves the facility, the campus and loves the rep that SLU has in the United States.  She was drawn into the SLU community because she feels leading, learning, and educating are important aspects of a university, and that SLU carries those traits.

Stone told LaBelle that academics for her players is a big part of the recruitment process.  Only a few go pro, so academics will be a top priority on her team.

When asked about the Billikens being shifted into the Atlantic 10, Stone said she was excited for the change and thinks it is one of the best conferences in the country.

Labelle asked Stone about her inspiration, and she claimed she was a family-person, and her parents were a huge inspiration to her, as well as her time playing ball at Iowa.

In her free time, Stone runs, golfs, goes on camping outings, and spends time with her family.
