MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) – A Memphis man who claimed to be fighting demons and talking to ghosts was arrested for destroying his hotel room.

It happened early Sunday morning at the Airport Inn on Brooks Road in the Whitehaven area.

Harry Khatrao, the manager of the hotel. says he saw the guest in 126 leave his room and  noticed water pouring out of the door.

“I asked him what he was doing and he was like, it doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter,” said Khatrao.

But when Khatrao walked into the room, he saw water everywhere and says the bathroom was even more of a mess.

There was shattered glass and drywall all over the floor and a microwave and broken pieces of furniture in a bathtub filled with running water.

He says the man had also ripped out computer wires from the ceiling in the hallway and put them in the sink.

“I didn’t even think it was this bad. I thought it was a little flood or something and then I walked in and it was just destroyed,” said Khatrao.

Khatrao followed 22-year-old Mabry Guenther to a gas station next and waited for police.

He says when officers got there that is when things got even stranger, “He said keep the white cops away from me. They got demons in them.”

Guenther later told police he destroyed his room because demons were there and ghosts told him he had to let them out.

He has been charged with vandalism $10,000-$60,000.
