ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) -  A man with a very colorful past and a local connection has passed away.

Back in December 2009, Henry Hill was a guest on Fox 2 News in the morning - before being arrested in Fairview Heights on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.  Hill blamed those legal troubles on his drinking problems. But years before, his real life tales of life in the mob became the inspiration for the movie "Goodfellas."  His part was played by actor Ray Liotta.  Hill passed away in Los Angeles following a long, undisclosed illness.

Hill made a name for himself in crime circles as part of the crew that pulled off a 5 million dollar robbery at a terminal at J-F-K Airport.  He was also involved in a point shaving scandal involving the Boston College basketball team.  Hill later became an FBI informant and helped put many of his associates behind bars.  Henry Hill was 69.
