FLORISSANT, MO (KPLR)-- Florissant residents are rallying behind wounded officer Mike Vernon.  Joe`s Pub in Old Florissant is hosting a fundraiser Saturday, June 2nd from 2pm until 10 p.m.

Hamburgers and hot dogs are being donated by Max`s Meat and Deli.

"One of our owners here, his dad is a retired police officer," said Tabetha Bartlett, store manager.  'We definitely know how hard it is for people to go out and risk their lives on a day-to-day basis and we just really hope the best for him.'

The bar manager for Joe`s Pub does not know officer Vernon but says that does not matter.

"We expect them to jump to our needs when we need them," said Bill Peipers. "Now it`s time that they don`t have to say anything and we`ll jump to their need."

Peipers said all the money from the hamburgers and hot dogs will go directly to Vernon`s family.

"It`s really overwhelming to know this man serves us everyday and here we are having a chance to serve him," said Peipers.

Joe`s Pub is located at 490 St. Francois St., Florissant, MO 63031.
