First Commercial Rocket Blasts To Space Station

Cape Canaveral, FL (CNN) - The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, early this morning, It's carrying the first private spacecraft heading for the International Space Station. Today's launch is one of 12 planned SpaceX flights.

This mission is designed to establish whether SpaceX can deliver cargo to the space station.

Right now, NASA has to rely on the Russian space agency to ferry U-S astronauts to orbit.
